On Saturday, July 16, 2022, a hail of bullets rained down on Coffeeshop Roots on Hoekenrode, which is located at Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena station.

In the morning at around 6 a.m. on July 16th, windows and doors of the Amsterdam coffeeshop were struck by shelling. The glass of Coffeeshop Roots was riddled with gunshot holes, and 15 round casings were located in front of the establishment. The majority of the shells impacted Coffeeshop Roots, but a couple struck Taco Mundo, a nearby fast-food restaurant.

The area around the Coffeeshop Roots was blocked off for police investigation after 15 bullets were fired at the Amsterdam cannabis dispensary. As far as is known, no fatalities or injuries occurred. It has been about a month after the shooting, and we still don’t know who committed the act of violence.
