De Republiek opened in 1987, the second coffeeshop to join TheCoffeeshops Amsterdam chain. This two-level shop is located near Westerpark in a bustling part of Amsterdam West, formerly the site of the 1980s Squatters movement (kraakbeweging). De Republiek features two small seating areas where guests can enjoy a small selection of beverages and snacks.
