Kelis Announces ‘Cooked with Cannabis’ Her New Netflix Series

It’s like Master Chef, but with weed, man!

Worldwide, cannabis enthusiasts have been waiting for April 2020, or “420 Month”. Now, due to the global Corona Virus crisis, many events and gatherings have been cancelled or postponed including Amsterdam’s Annual 420 Hemp Festival. With many opting to stay home, it is the perfect time for streaming platforms to release new goodies for subscribers to watch. Personality Kelis has announced that she will be hosting a new Netflix series, Cooked With Cannabis, which premieres on Netflix on 420 (April 20, 2020).

The musician and chef took to Twitter to announce the news. “I’m really excited to announce my new show, Cooked with Cannabis on Netflix. As a chef, I was intrigued by the food”, she stated. “As an everyday person, I was interested in how powerful this topic is in today’s society. I hope you all will tune in, it’ll be a good time! We launch on 4/20!”

Kelis, is an internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter known for tracks which include Milkshake, Acapella, and 4th of July. She also recently appeared on the hit UK reality show, the masked singer, where she performed for judges disguised as a giant daisy, an experience she later referred to as “hard” “awkward” and “hot”.

Kelis has always professed to have a love for food and cooking, as evident in some of her song titles including “Jerk Ribs,” “Friday Fish Fry”, and “Cobbler”, as well as the 2014 album, simply titled, Food. She enrolled in Cordon Bleu culinary school in 2009 and since has collaborated with various celebrity chefs and even released her own line of natural sauces, Bounty & Full. In 2015, the same year as her sauce launch, Kelis unveiled her cookbook, Recipes From Around The World: My Life On a Plate.

“I’ve been cooking all of my life. I think as we get older we start to focus on what brings us joy, ” Kelis told Ebony in 2015.

The trailer for Cooked With Cannabis hints that viewers are in for a Master Chef- like experience, with contestants competing amongst one another to produce the best dishes. Instead of Chef Ramsay, these cooks will need to appeal to the diverse flavors and earthy aromas of the cannabis plant. We dig it!

Cooked With Cannabis will be available to stream on Netflix beginning April 20, 2020.
