Trying Swiid Cannabisdrink At The Amsterdam Coffeeshop Awards

The makers of Cannahopper, an artisanal cannabeer product have released a new cannabis-inspired beverage perfect for those who are alcohol-free or simply prefer a sweet soda to a beer. Swiid cannabisdrink is a lime flavored soda featuring subtle notes of mint and the cannabis strain Girl Scout Cookies. Amsterdam Coffeeshop awards staff and attendees had the opportunity to crack open some refreshing, ice cold Swiid sodas during the events b2b expo, featuring cannabis brands from across Europe and the USA.

Cannahopper promises to deliver “an explosion of lime, mint, and Girl Scout Cookies” each time you crack open this refreshing limeade beverage. The beverage’s unique flavor profile is inspired by the cannabis strain, Girl Scout Cookies, an indica-dominant hybrid  created by crossing the OG Kush and F1 Durban stains of cannabis. This strain is known for having subtly sweet and minty notes as well as a hint of herbal spice, which is well mimicked in the flavor of Swiid.

Swiid soda is a creation of Cannahopper, a Belgian cannabis themed beverage company. The brands’s original beverage product, a range of artisanal cannabeers includes a range of terpene-infused tastes, mimicking classic cannabis flavors including Kush and Cali Haze varieties. These beers are brewed by Vliegende Paard Brouwers out of Oedelem, Belgium. They are made from a top-fermented Belgian amber specialty beer, with the addition of a special ingredient: hemp flower. The Vliegend Paard Brouwers brew their Cannahopper using hemp flower, giving it a distinctive and robust flavor, familiar and well-loved by the cannabis community. These beers are 6% alcohol by volume and contain 0.0% THC and can now be found in many cities across the globe including New York, Cape Town, Berlin, Paris, Los Angeles, and Lisbon, just to name a few.

The consensus when sampling Swiid was that the drink was best served cold and that the beverage’s lime flavor was most dominant,  yet complimented nicely by notes of mint and other carefully-selected herbal essence. The flavor profile is pleasing to the palate and truly provides an uplifting effect, reminiscent of the cannabis strain to which it was influenced. The appearance of unique terpene-infused beverage products offers a change of pace for consumers dissatisfied or tired of traditionally marketed beverage products  and also serves as an outlet to educate new consumer groups about the cannabis industry and wider industry of plant-derived terpenes and essential oils.

It is truly exciting to see the emergence of a cannabis-inspired beverage market and the future of  Cannahopper’s artisanal beverages certainly looks bright!
