The Dutch government is calling for stricter guidelines to help fight the COVID-19 outbreak. The cabinet is expected to announce new measures tonight during their 7pm press conference. Dirk Beljaarts, director of Koninklijke Horeca Nederland tells NOS Radio 1, these new plans are a “final push” to attempt to reduce the increasing number of corona infections across the Netherlands.
These measures are rumoured to included a complete closure of the catering industry for up to 2 weeks. This “final push” may cause all coffeeshops in the Netherlands to close their doors, like we experienced back in March.
Previous measures, such as reduced hours, allowing take-away only and requesting contact details from customers have been among the many, unclear steps suggested by the cabinet.
Will coffeeshops be forced to close doors due to this new measures by the government to combat Coronavirus in Netherlands? We won’t know for sure until after a 7pm press conference tonight.
