US State Files Bill To Legalize Cannabis Country-Wide

A bill to legalize marijuana in the United States has been introduced in a state legislature. This morning in the Senate, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), and Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) introduced the long-awaited cannabis legalization proposal.

It is quite improbable that the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act will get the sixty votes required for it to pass through the Senate.

President Joe Biden also has voiced his opposition to legalizing on a federal level.

On the other hand, it will almost certainly influence the conversation on Capitol Hill about cannabis. Should it be passed, the measure would finally remove cannabis off the list of federally illegal substances.
